The Atlantic Dance Gathering was an opportunity for us, as dance artists and industry professionals from the Atlantic provinces, to come together to build and strengthen relationships. We got together from April 29 to May 1 of 2024, to collectively consider the conditions of dance ecologies in the Atlantic region and to understand what lies next.
The ADG saw 78 individuals in attendance; 34 from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, 25 from Nova Scotia, 6 from New Brunswick, 5 from other regions in Newfoundland and Labrador, 2 from Prince Edward Island, and 6 from national organizations.
$40,955 were provided in travel supports, covering flights and accommodations.
We extend our gratitude to the 23 organizations that funded and collaborated with us. These include the Atlantic Ballet of Canada, Atlantic Dance Festival, Atlantic Opportunities Agency of Canada, Atlantic Presenters Association, Canada Council for the Arts, CanDance Network, Canadian Dance Assembly, Canadian Heritage, CelebrateNL, Connection Dance Works, Dance Collection Dance, DanceNL, Double Curve Media, First Light, FODAR, Kinetic, Live Art, MOCEAN, Neighbourhood Dance Works, the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Radarts Inc., Summer Works, and Year of the Arts. Their support was instrumental in creating a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere at the event.
A lot of seeds were planted in the span of those 3 days, we are excited to see what will form from them and can't wait to gather again!
