Hiring Events Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs)
Neighbourhood Dance Works is hiring an Events Assistant through the Canada Summer Jobs program. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in arts administration and event coordination within a creative and inclusive environment.
Position Details:
Job Title: Events Assistant
Employment Type: Temporary, 9 weeks (with the possibility of extension)
Hours: 30 hours per week
Wage: $16.50/hour
Location: St. John’s, NL
Term: June 30 – August 29, 2025
About the Role:
The Events Assistant will support the planning and delivery of NDW’s pilot Vertical Dance Week (in collaboration with Cirque’letics), and assist with preparations for our 34th Festival of New Dance and 14th annual Zombiegrams fundraiser. This is a unique opportunity to work on live performance events and community engagement initiatives in the arts. For the right candidate, there may be an opportunity to extend this position on a part-time basis beyond the summer contract period.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Assisting with event logistics, scheduling, and artist coordination
Supporting administrative tasks and maintaining project timelines
Helping with outreach, marketing, and audience engagement
Providing on-site support during events and performances
Contributing to social media content and event documentation
Who We’re Looking For:
To be eligible, applicants must:
Be between the ages of 15–30
Be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status)
Be available for the full duration of the work term
Ideal candidates will have:
Interest in event planning, arts administration, or communications
Strong organizational and communication skills
Experience in customer service or community outreach
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and social media platforms
A passion for dance, arts, and community-based projects
Willingness to work some evenings and weekends during events
