Artist Spotlight: Tendai Mudunge (Mr. T)

Tendai Mudunge (Mr. T) is an upcoming dancer who first fell in love with latin dance in Vancouver in 2015. Since then he has continued to grow by taking workshops with artists across Canada. He most recently showcased a work-in-progress piece with Charlie Angel for our Spring Edition of First Look.

1. Is there a piece of art you are drawing from/inspired by? I would mention Daniel and Desiree; they were the first to popularize bachata which is my favourite dance and I got to see them once in Montreal which helped increase my interest in dancing. 2. What have been your biggest challenges and inspirations creating during the past 2 years?

Limited opportunities to showcase my abilities with capacity restrictions and health guidelines.

3. Has the experience from the past 2 years created new patterns in your life, new routines? If so, what are they?

The biggest impact is realizing that we should never take anything for granted; I have always been very passionate about dancing but the past two years have taught me that I should treat every opportunity I get to showcase dancing as a privilege and always give it my best to bring out the best version of myself.

4. What are some comfort foods that have soothed your soul during the pandemic?

Rice and chicken curry with pesto is always a classic.

5. What are you looking forward to? Dream projects, projects in the making, a good soup tonight, warmer weather?

Continuing to explore my creativity through learning learning dances like bellydance, ballet, contemporary, pole dance and burlesque.
