RYPADA Workshop

RYPADA is a method for movement directly inspired by African dance and musical traditions and by the practice of contemporary dance. Its technical principle is LOKÉTO.

LOKÉTO (a word from Lingala, language of the 2 Congos, which means “hips” or “lower back”) reveals in the very form of its onomatopoeia, the three phases/movements and levels/body parts (feet/knees/hips) as they are inherently expressed through self-regulating rhythmic sequences of breath (les souffles) and structures of the body in movement.

From this technique flows a movement learning method that spotlights:

A physical and aesthetic approach

a) The autonomous body: control of the space within oneself and surrounding through control of breathing and supports

b) Space, body and musicality associated with the principle of resonance and time/energy

c) A physical and spiritual approach: strength, fluidity and engagement
